Fully Known
You knew me
Before I knew myself
You put Your breath inside of me
Creation sings of Your majesty
We're joining in the symphonyJust as oil burns with a fragrance
So let my life, be incense, LordOh, just to know You
And to be known by You, my God
There's nothing sweeter
Oh, just to sing right to Your heart
Hey friends. It’s been a while…
I’ll be frank with you. I'm in a season where I have zero idea what God is doing or what He’s planning to do. Transition has overwhelmed me. I’ve moved hundreds of miles away from family, friends, and all things familiar.
Although I know it was The Lord’s prompting to make this change, I cannot put my finger on why. I don’t know how all this uncertainty fits into His “good” plan for my life. There’s been a lot of lament in my quiet time, and seemingly, a lot of silence on The Father’s end. In the midst of it all, 1 Corinthians 13:12 captivated me.
“For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully, just as I also have been fully known.” (NASB)
This verse helped me put words to what I’m feeling. I've been frustrated with "knowing it part" and looking at a "blurry mirror" for the hope that is to come. God’s request is that I trust Him in it.
As His children, we have to trust that, though we do not know now, we will know fully why have we endured what we endure. Some of that revelation He graces us with here on earth, and some of it will come when we see Him face to face. For now, I have to believe that He is simply building me and you up for more. Not for more to "do" necessarily, but for more of Him. More of His glory. More of His peace. More of His love.
We have the undeniable privilege of knowing the one true King. He came. He lived. He died in our place. He rose and He is coming back. That is the greatest revelation we will be graced with. Rejoice in what you know in part, and what you will soon know. And when you don’t know fully what is happening around you, rejoice that you are fully known.
Your stresses? Fully known.
Your discouragement? Fully known.
Your confusion? Fully known.
Your heartache? Fully known.
What a gift it is to remember that, by being fully known, we don’t have to pretend to be someone/something we are not. We don’t have to pretend to be happy when we are in deep sorrow. We don’t have to pretend to be holy when God is fully aware of our shortcomings. We can rest in knowing that there is no pressure in God’s presence. He's with you in it and He will see you through it. Come as you are, and you won’t leave the same. (Matthew 11:28-30)
When we can’t pinpoint why things are the way they are, we are asked to build our life on remains true (Matthew 7:24-27). May you be reminded today of the profound blessing it is to know Him, love Him, and be known and loved by Him. No matter what you are unaware of, the assurance you have in and through Him cannot be taken away from you. Build your life on that. There is nothing greater. There is nothing sweeter.
